Norman Lloyd Burtt passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on April 12, 2025 after a brief illness.
Norman was born on October 3, 1955 in New Hampshire. He was born into a large family of ten children, all born to Owen and Barbara Burtt (Moore). When he was four years old, there was a house fire that destroyed their home and so the family moved to Lee, Massachusetts where they continued to raise their children in a home filled with faith and love.
After many years of living in Massachusetts, he met and married Cindy Hermance, after a brief courtship, on May 9, 1981. He then moved to New York State where he was employed as a state Correctional Officer. Together, Cindy and Norman have two daughters, Shelley Gilbert, engaged to Bob Shanley, and Stephanie Shriver, who is married to Klancy Shriver.
He has two grandchildren, Connor and Alaina Gilbert and three grand dogs, Raisin and Quigley Shriver and Sadie Gilbert, who he loved and adored very much.
Norman was a lover of life. He was happy to lend a hand to anyone who needed it and never expected anything in return. He loved to make people smile with his innate sense of humor. If you were around him, you were laughing.
In addition to his day job, he could often be found building something. He built the family home on Blue Hill Rd and spent many a day fixing things around others homes. His daughters would often reap the benefits of his varied skills learned by his father.
Norman spent most of his days with his family. There are many fond memories of trips to the Outer Banks. Volunteering as a coach for his daughter's softball team, and spending time loving on his grandchildren.
If he wasn't with his family, he could be found on the golf course or at the bowling lanes with his league mates. He loved watching an array of sports on TV (most importantly his Boston Red Sox),remote constantly in hand.
Most importantly, Norman loved the Lord. He spent much of his time studying the Word. He always sang loudly in praise to God. He was a wonderful example of Christ to his family, his friends, and all who met him.
He is survived by his wife and children, his mother-in-law, Eleanor Hermance, his sisters Sandra Bowden (Bob), Sherry Jensen (Jim). and Michelle Perkins as well as his brothers Keith Burtt (Johnnye), Kevin Burtt (Carol), Brian Burtt (Cathy), Darrell Burtt, and Duane Burtt (Paula). He is survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Owen and Barbara Burtt, and his sister, Charlotte Livingstone.
Norman's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched during his time here on earth. Friends and family alike will remember him not just for his generosity, but for the laughter and joy he brought into every room. His infectious smile and warm hearted nature made him loved by all he met.
As they navigate this difficult time, his family takes solace in knowing that Norman is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in their hearts and in the memories they cherish.
They invite everyone who knew him to join them in celebrating his life and the love he so freely gave. Services will be held at Seacoast Church, 1500 US-501 Business, Conway, 29526 on Thursday, April 24th, 2025 at 11 am.
