Susan Perry Burtt

June 17, 1952 – July 11, 2025

Susan Perry Burtt passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with illness. Susan, known fondly as Sue, was born in Robbinston, Maine, on June 17, 1952, to her loving parents, Donald and Joyce Perry. She is survived by her husband, Harold L. Burtt from Orange Park, FL, and their son, Andrew L. Burtt, from Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by her mother, Joyce Wolfert of Fleming Island, her brother, Alan Donald Perry of Fleming Island, and her sister, Marilyn Tracy of Atlanta, Georgia. Additionally, Sue is survived by her nieces, Erin Cook of Atlanta, Georgia, and Laura Perry of Jacksonville, and her nephew, Dr. Alan Perry of Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Sue graduated from Calais Memorial High School, Class of 1970, and went on to earn her Registered Nurse degree from Eastern Maine Medical School of Nursing in 1971. She dedicated her life to caring for others, beginning her nursing career at Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she served for many years as a charge nurse in the cancer clinic.

After moving to Florida, Sue continued her work in oncology, first with Adventist Health in Altamonte Springs, then as Director of the Oncology Unit at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. Later in her career, she found deep purpose working as a home care nurse for Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.

In 2013, Sue received a life-saving liver transplant, and despite many years of health challenges, she faced each day with resilience, compassion, and strength. Her unwavering dedication to her patients, family, and friends left a lasting legacy of love and service. Sue will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue's name to the charity of your choice.

Sue was my husband Ray´s hospice nurse from 2008 until his death in 2009. Her compassion, kindness, and knowledge of steering our path was beyond whatever we expected. Sue and Ray shared several commonalities and had a very strong bond. She literally held my hand through the journey of losing him and after he passed we stayed in touch. She was generous with her time, answered every question, gave unequalled encouragement and spread love everywhere. She will be deeply missed by all who encountered her. Sue was a true angel in this earth.
