A Celebration of Life for Norman Ray Combs, age 93, of Forsyth, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Sardis Baptist Church in Forsyth, MO.

Norman was born on February 22, 1932, in a cotton gin in Kissee Mills, Missouri, to John and Bertie Combs. He passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025.

A proud veteran, Norman served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On December 12, 1957, he married Cassie Nichols, and together they raised three children. Norman was a lifelong resident of Taney County and a well-known figure in the community.

He began working at a young age, setting pins at the bowling alley and delivering ice in Rockaway Beach. In 1962, he opened a shoe store that later expanded into carpet and furniture. He remained active in the business, Combs Floor Covering up until the final week of his life. Alongside running his store, Norman also drove a school bus for several years.

Norman led a very active lifestyle and was passionate about his community. He was a founding member of the Forsyth Sports Center and played a key role in starting the local softball league. He enjoyed bowling, basketball, softball, and especially dancing - often wearing his tap shoes. An avid fisherman, Norman loved sharing the story of his legendary 41-pound striper with anyone who visited his store.

He often credited his long life to staying active and proudly noted that he never drank alcohol or smoked. Norman's energy, humor, and love for life will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

He is survived by his three children, Brenda Stallcup (John), Dennis Combs, and Kevin Combs; grandchildren, Beth Loving, Matt Stallcup (Rachel), Adam Stallcup (Wendi), Ryan Combs, Kelsie Combs, and Katie Burkhart (Jason); 8 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, numerous of nieces and nephews, and sister, Mary Corca.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertie Combs; wife, Cassie Combs; brothers, Vernon Combs and Floyd Combs; sisters, Juanita Fritze and Shelby Montes; daughter in law, Jessica Combs; and grandchildren, Justin Wyman and Harley Combs.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson.
