Norman Cormier, of Tyngsboro, formerly of Waltham, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at The Atrium at Drum Hill Assisted Living in Chelmsford after a courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson's disease. He was 80 years old.

Born in Gardner on June 14, 1944, Norman was the cherished son of the late Alcide and Maria (Jaillet) Cormier. His early life saw a move back to his roots in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada, where the family established “Cormier’s Wagon Wheel restaurant,” which flourished into the 1970s. Venturing to the US alone during his later teenage years, Norman took on various roles, including working at Brandeis, Middlesex County hospital and cab driving all in Waltham before finding his niche as a telecommunications technician at Millipore Corporation, where he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career until retirement.

Known for his warm and friendly demeanor, Norman earned the affectionate title of the unofficial “Mayor of Millipore.” His talent for putting people at ease garnered him numerous friends and made him exceptionally proud when all his children worked at Millipore simultaneously.

A man deeply connected to his French-Canadian heritage, Norman cherished frequent trips to Bouctouche with his family. August became the sacred month for vacations at the family cottage, creating countless treasured memories. Post-retirement, Norman and his beloved wife, Annette, spent idyllic summers there, relishing visits from their children and grandchildren.

On November 28, 1964, Norman happily wed Annette Jaillet at Saint Joseph’s Church on Main Street in Waltham. They joyously celebrated their 60th anniversary last year, marking six decades of love and companionship.

Norman is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Pearl Cormier. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Annette M. Cormier of Tyngsboro; his children, John B. Cormier of Carlisle, Laure Cormier-Perivolotis (George) of Littleton, Jason R. Cormier (Ghazal) of Westford, and Rachel E. Cormier of Tyngsboro; his adored grandchildren, Ariana and Victoria Cormier; his sister, Doris Whalen of Homosassa, Florida; along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will gather to honor Norman’s life at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, for an evening wake on Sunday, January 26th from 4 to 7 p.m., and again on Monday morning at 11:30 a.m. for his funeral service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Opportunities for Inclusion or the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.oppsforinclusion.org/make-a-donation and www.parkinson.org
