Norman Day, Sr., 62, of Terre Haute passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023. He was born March 13, 1960, in Terre Haute to Arval and Mary Flora Day. Norman was a Terre Haute South graduate. He served his country in the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of S&N Trucking and leased by Morris Trucking. Norman was a Certified Master Truck Driver and received the Safe Driver Award for travelling four million miles without incident or citation. His truck "Miss Kitty", a Western Star, took him on his journeys. He was a member of the Riley American Legion and the Owner-Operator Association member. Norman was a talented musician and guitar player who recently fell in love with Amanda Lynn (the mandolin).
Norman is survived by his daughter Katrina Lee Hiter (Scott), son Norman Day, Jr. (Jennifer), grandchildren Elaina Travioli (Brad), Tommy Fink (girlfriend Ameilya), Hannah Fink, Rylee Day (girlfriend Emily), Tony Cox (Dayton), Dalton Cox (Brianna), Dina Wright, and Shealynn Kiger, five great-grandchildren, sisters Sue Pennell, Mary Ann Sweitzer, and Norma Snow (Delbert), and longtime companion Suzanne Moloney, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Sunny Day, brothers-in-law Jim Pennell and Bob Sweitzer.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Service will be at the funeral home beginning at 3:00 p.m. Dr. Chuck Cooley will officiate. Burial will follow at New Harmony Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
