Norman Jansen Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 16, 2026.
Norman "Sam" James Jansen, age 90, formerly of De Pere, Wisconsin,

passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on January 13, 2026, in

Lake Havasu City, AZ. Norm was born on February 28, 1935, to the late

Leonard and Dora (Zelten) Jansen. He graduated from Nicolet High School,

West De Pere, Wisconsin in 1952. He, then, served proudly in the US Army

from 1953 to 1956, and excelled in Precision Measurement Electronics

(PMEL) in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1981. During his year hiatus from

military service he returned home and met the love of his life, Joan

(Griesbach) Jansen. They were married on June 18, 1957, and enjoyed 66

years of raising five children, remodeling homes, and travelling the world.

Norm was a man who could fix anything. During his years in the military, he

often worked a second job. From owning a television repair shop, fixing

antique clocks, rebuilding cars, and renovating homes he was definitely a

go-getter. Upon retirement from the military, he worked as an executive

manager for Electro Rent, a global provider of test and measurement

equipment in Southern California. Norm left Electro Rent in 1984 to pursue his

passion of buying, remodeling, and selling homes. Together with Joan, he

bought and sold over 50 homes across the US. They RV travelled frequently

to visit their children and see the country.

Norm is survived by his children, Leonard (Barbara) Jansen, Julie (Robert, d.

2024) Allen, Michelle (Howard) Carmichael, and Stephanie (Rudy) Rodriguez;

11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his

sisters-in-law Patti Jansen, Bernice Jansen, Laurie Griesbach and Dorothy

Griesbach, daughter-in-law Rita (Jansen) Stacey, as well as many nieces,

nephews, and other relatives. Preceding Norm in death are his beloved wife,

Joan Jansen, his son, James Jansen; parents, Leonard and Dora Jansen;

sister, Claudia Vanden Hoogen; brothers, Clem, Leon, and Richard Jansen.

The interment of Norm's ashes will be celebrated on a later date at the

National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. The family gives special thanks to the

staff of Vista Pointe at Lake Havasu Assisted Living Facility.
