Obituary- Norman Eugene Nicholas

October 1,1953 - April 19,2025

Norman Eugene Nicholas, "Norm", of 25802 Greensville Avenue North Dinwiddie, VA departed this earthly life into eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

He began his spiritual journey at the age of 13 when he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at First Baptist Church, West Petersburg, VA under the guidance of the late Reverend C. L. Robinson.

Norm was educated in the Dinwiddie County Public School System graduating in the Class of 1972 at Dinwiddie High School. Early in his career, Norm worked at Brenco for a number of years and later retired from Southside Virginia Training Center in 2014, after 26 years of service.

Norm's favorite hobbies and pastimes were basketball, fishing and coin collecting. He also loved tinkering and working on his old cars and trucks.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Louella Gholson Nicholas and James T. Nicholas, Sr; two brothers, Eudell A Nicholas and James T Nicholas, Jr.; and his very dear devoted best friend forever, Ms. Diane Baskerville.

He is survived by three devoted and dedicated siblings; Albert M. Nicholas (Essie) and Arlene N. Williams, both of North Dinwiddie, VA and Alvin C. Nicholas, I(Velma) of Petersburg, VA; three nephews, Quint T. Nicholas (Penny), Alvin "Neil" C Nicholas, ll (Sheila) and James "Jamie" T. Henderson; three nieces, Sonta Birckett (Vincent), Tiffany Jones, and his "baby" niece, Yannette Nicholas, whom he lovingly referred to as "Little Girl"; devoted step nephew, Delmont Jones; and step niece, Anita Jones. Devoted friends, Eunice Lee, Jack Wilson and Javon Wilson.

Norm was affectionately regarded by a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors in the West Petersburg Community, especially, Amara and Amina Baskerville. His passing leaves a void in our lives that can be filled only by the love of God!

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment Petersburg Virginia.

Celebration of life service for Mr. Norman Eugene Nicholas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025 at First Baptist Church West Petersburg 25720 Greensville Ave. Petersburg, Virginia 23803. Rev. Dr. Horace Parham, Eulogist and Rev. Keith Jones, Officiant. Interment to follow in the Dinwiddie Memorial Park 7324 Church Road Petersburg Virginia 23803.

The remains will rest in the church one hour prior to service.

The family is asking that relatives and friends assemble at the residence 25802 Greensville Ave. North Dinwiddie Virginia on day of service at 10:00 a.m.

The Family will be receiving relatives and friends at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Arlene Williams 22809 Dabney Mill Road North Dinwiddie Virginia on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
