Norman Edison Koplin, age 85, of Ripon, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Ripon Community Hospital with his loving wife, Wilma, by his side.
Norm was born in Ripon on January 26, 1940, son of Edison and Erma (Dahms) Koplin and grew up on the family farm. He graduated in 1957 from Ripon High School and was very active in 4-H. On June 6, 1964, he married Wilma Huth, and they just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. In his early years Norm worked in construction including a time with Schmitt Lumber. He later owned a service station in Ripon. He enjoyed fishing, doing yard work, gardening, and listening to Polka music. Many will remember him for the simple joy of friendship and conversation filled with humor. He was a lifelong member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon.
Norm is survived by his wife, Wilma Koplin of Ripon, WI; two sons, Tony (Nancy Stinson) Koplin of South Beloit, IL and Thomas (Malena) Koplin of Brookfield, WI; grandson, Hunter Koplin; brother, James (Judy) Koplin of Ripon, WI; nephew, Steven (Anna) Koplin; sister-in-law, Jeanette Garb; brother-in-law, Phil (Sue) Huth; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edison and Erma Koplin; brother-in-law, Lyle Garb; numerous aunts and uncles; as well as his favorite pet cat, Stanley “Stosh”.
Visitation for Norm will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Norm will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, with Rev. Dr. Kevin P. Mundell officiating. You may view a livestream of the service by visiting this link LIVESTREAM. Interment will follow at Reeds Corners Cemetery, Town of Metomen. Memorials in Norm’s name may be directed to Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971, or to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
