He was born on January 17, 1949, to Norman David Strong, Sr. and Dorothy Irene (Ray) Strong of Strongstown, PA.
He was a graduate of Penns Manor High School. He went on to earn 2 undergraduate degrees and a Master's Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He worked at National Mine Service Company for several years and left to manage the family's electrical business. From there he worked at Indiana University of Pennsylvania until he retired in 2011.
Dave enjoyed working on the family farms with his two brothers and working at the Indiana County Fair. He was a leader with Troop 10 Boy Scouts of Penn Run and enjoyed all the outdoor activities and outings with the Troop. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family, and an occasional round of golf.
He was a member of the Graystone Presbyterian Church most of his life. He, along with his wife, taught Sunday School for 13 years, served as an usher, and went on to become an Elder with the church.
Dave was married to Gloria (Miller) Strong for 31 years. They have two loving children, Nathan David Strong of Homer City, and Gabrielle Melina (Strong) McMichael and son-in-law Christopher McMichael, of Haddonfield, NJ.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Dorothy Strong.
He is also survived by his two brothers, Alton Frederick Strong and Thomas George Strong, both of Penn Run, his nieces, Meredith (Strong) Pardee and Craig Pardee of Tennessee, Katie (Strong) Heitzinger and Eric Heitzinger of Arizona, and Andrea (Strong) Fensky and Eric Fensky of Titusville, and several cousins.
Friends will be received on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home for a Celebration of Life followed by services at 2:00 PM.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America, P. O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA, 18901, in honor of Dave.
