Norman Tice Obituary

Norman Edward Tice
Norman Edward Tice, 92 of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2025. Norman was born on May 1, 1933 in Derby, CT to the late Norman Edward Tice and Margurite Keeley Tice.
Norman is survived by his devoted life partner, Patricia "Patty" Zygmunt of Derby. His five children: Roger Garberg (Mern Sibley), Karen Tice (Dwight Billings), Norman "Ward" Tice Jr., Stephanie Tice (fiancé Mark Magliochetti), and Bradley Tice (Carolyn). Four grandchildren: Lucy, Jacqueline, Nicholas, Marjana, and great-grandson Bela. His nephew Darin Crocker, and niece, Debbie Bevino, both of whom provided great support to Norman for many years. His former wife, Shirley Tice, longtime family friend, Elaine Liberto, and many additional beloved family and friends. Norman is predeceased by the mother of his children Jennet Crocker Tice, his two siblings: Jean Tice Keefe and Marilyn Tice Urbanowicz.
Norman attended Fairfield Prep, Fordham University & The University of Connecticut. He followed in the footsteps of his father and became the CEO of Chromium Process CO. in Shelton, for several decades and was an honorary of UConn's Nozko Family Business Leadership Award. He spearheaded the company in the development of an environmentally friendly substitute Chromalloy finish replacing hazardous chromium commonly used. Norman was active in ROTC and numerous civic and business organizations, including Rotary, Valley Jaycees, YMCA, as well as a UConn Alumni Association Board Member.
He was most at peace at Red Rose, his cottage on Corn Hill Beach, Truro, MA, where he spent joyous decades with Family, and a plethora of revered lifelong friendships. He was a night owl who loved late night games and gatherings with friends and family. He had a boyish fascination with gizmos, gadgets and toys to the delight of the children that flocked to him. His poodle, Woody, named after his Uncle Elwood, both of whom held a warm place in his heart.
Norman and Patty enjoyed many wonderful memories in the warmth and comfort of their home in sunny Florida, where he spent much time on his boat cruising the intercoastal waterways. He was an avid fan of UConn athletics, football as well as men's and women's basketball. For years, the winner of the Yale/UCONN football rivalry was presented with the Norman E. Tice trophy in commemoration of his father, a Yale graduate, and his siblings who were UCONN graduates. He patiently waited over seven decades to enthusiastically embrace a Boston Red Sox World Series Championship.
