On September 18, 2025, Norris Gerald Stratmeyer passed away peacefully in Cockeysville, MD. He was born on September 11, 1937 as the 2nd son of the late John

R. and Marie B. Stratmeyer. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Marie Stratmeyer to whom he was married for more than 68 years. He was also the devoted father of Laura Plunkett (Daniel) and Jeffrey Stratmeyer (June); loving grandfather of Elisabeth Hall (Teigen), Lindsay Morresi (Michael), Lacey Plunkett (Tobias Gruner), Christopher Koloup (Christina), Bridget Petersen (Brady), Andrew Koloup (Claire Warner), Robert Stratmeyer (Amanda Havener), and Carlie Black (Jaramie); cherished great-grandfather of Jack Hall, Hayden Hall, Henry Hall, Barrett Morresi, Lukas Plunkett, Jordan Koloup, Mackenzie Koloup, Blair Petersen, Peiton Black, Rylee Black, and Oliver Stratmeyer; dear brother of Henry Stratmeyer, the late John Stratmeyer and Carroll Stratmeyer.

Norris graduated from Kenwood High School in 1955 and served at Camp Lejeune as an active member of the Marines for six months and then served in the reserves for six years. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1963. He held several jobs in and around his hometown of Baltimore which included machine operator, maintenance technician, and salesman. Norris then joined the Baltimore County Fire Department where he spent the next 25+ years working primarily at the Hillendale (Sta.#11), Brooklandville (Sta. #14), and Texas (Sta. #17), where he ended his career as a Captain in the mid-1990s.

The funeral celebration will be held at the family-owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 York Road on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11am. The interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.
