In loving memory of Nova Lou Gillespie, born on January 5, 1948, in Amory, Mississippi, Nova passed on March 24, 2025. A guiding light through her decades of service and a cherished companion to those who knew her, Nova personified joy in every aspect of her life.
Nova dedicated an impressive 37 years to the noble profession of education as a third-grade teacher. Her teaching journey flourished across notable institutions, including Ensley Elementary in Pensacola, Florida, Wood Meade Elementary, and Julian Harris Elementary in Decatur, Alabama. Countless students have been shaped by her unwavering dedication and profound passion for fostering a love of learning.
An alumna of Mississippi State University, Nova pursued her education with the same zest that characterized her vibrant personality. She was a beacon of positivity, beloved for her infectious laughter and zest for life. Always ready with a joke or a warm smile, she made life a little brighter for everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Nova thrived in the great outdoors, finding joy in boating, yard work, and the melodic tunes of 60’s music. Her artistic talents and affection for collecting antiques were testaments to her exquisite taste and appreciation for beauty in the world. Memories were woven during cherished trips with friends, and her bond with her dogs illuminated her nurturing spirit.
Nova is survived by her devoted brother, Tommy Noe, and her cherished nieces: Jennifer Briggs, Lisa Hanna, Michelle Welander, Crystal Noe, and Ginger Noe, alongside her nephew, TC Noe, and great nephew, Caleb Widner. Together they carry forth her joyful essence, keeping alive the spirit of laughter and love that she so generously imparted.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Thomas Melvin Noe and Novis Stanford Noe, along with her sister, Rebecca Noe Hanna . Their reunion brings comfort to those she leaves behind, as they remember the vibrant soul that Nova embodied.
