Mr. Hernandez was born on January 18, 1925, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, to Francisca Martinez Rodriguez (aka: Fela) and Leocadio Hernandez. Everyone knew him as "Tavo". He was the second son born out of 9 children. He had five brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Hernandez resided in Hartford, CT, most of his time; his current residence is New Britain, CT. He is survived by his three daughters, Margarita Hernandez, Nereida Villafane, and Sandra Gallup.
Mr. Hernandez's grandchildren are Elizabeth Cardona, Alberto Cardona, Arnaldo Rodriguez, Jennifer Villafane, and Frederick Villafane.
His great-grandchildren are Stephanie Rivera, Jennifer Rivera, Yaniel Cardona, Sophia Cardona, Maximus Rodriguez, and Catherine Rose Rodriguez.
His great-great-grandsons are Fabian Matteo Lopez, Jose Mathias Rodriguez, and Jake Sebastian Rodriguez.
