Odeana McFadden Stewart, 84, of Commerce, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born on August 5, 1940, in Commerce, the daughter of Dalford McFadden and Geneva Patterson McFadden. The family will receive friends at a visitation to take place on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Commerce Funeral Home. A funeral will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 10:00 am, at First Presbyterian Church in Commerce, with Reverend Beverly Hughes and Reverend John Blacklock officiating.
Odeana attended Commerce High School, graduating with the class of 1958. On November 14, 1961, she married the love of her life, William Neal Stewart, in Commerce. They spent the next sixty-two years calling Commerce home, except for brief times in Kearney, Nebraska and Garland, Texas. Odeana enjoyed a banking career that extended over fifty years. The last years of her career were spent as branch president of Inwood National Bank in Commerce. She and her family were active members of the First Presbyterian Church. Odeana served as a deacon and elder, as well as the treasurer. The church was home to them for over fifty years.
Although Odeana was a professional woman, her true calling was to her family. That calling included anything having to do with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom she was the greatest cheerleader at all their events. She also loved playing cards, forty-two, and board games. She loved spending time ensuring her yard looked nice, keeping her home, but most of all, she could be found cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There is no question that Odeana's absence will be felt by her family, church, and community.
Left to cherish Odeana's memory will be her husband of sixty-two years, Neal; her children, Stephanie Keahey and husband, Mark, of Commerce, and Scott Stewart and wife, Kimberly, of Commerce; grandchildren, Kyle Keahey and wife, Heather, of Gilmer, Texas, Kayla Spreen and husband, Dillon, of Salado, Texas, Jordan Bradshaw and husband, Colton, of San Antonio, and Garrison Stewart, of Commerce; great-grandchildren, Ty Keahey and Sawyer Spreen; her brother, Pat McFadden of Rockwall and sister, Lisa Rabe and husband, Randy of Klondike; nieces, Marisa Phillips and Traci Phipps and a nephew, Andy Rabe.
Preceding Odeana in death are her parents, Dalford and Geneva McFadden, and nephews, Brad Rollins, and Micheal McFadden.
Serving as Pallbearers for Odeana are Kyle Keahey, Dillon Spreen, Andy Rabe, John Fugitt, Dan Outz, and Mark McFarland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to First Presbyterian Church Commerce or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
