Odessa O''Quinn Raines

ODESSA O'QUINN RAINES, 87, of Grundy, VA, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 17, 2025, at English Meadows Assisted Living, Abingdon, VA, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Roley and Beulah (Lockhart) O'Quinn. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, after an extended battle with COPD, she had lived the last four years of her life at English Meadows, Abingdon, VA. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker who loved cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Raines; Daughter: Loretta Deel; Infant Daughter: Lesa McClanahan; Sister: Sue Daniels; Son-in-Law: Ricky Swiney.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Linda Swiney of Grundy, VA; Son-in-Law: Rickey Deel of Vansant, VA; Granddaughter: Gwen (Rodney) Anderson of Grundy, VA; Grandson: Amos (Angie) Swiney of Lexington, NC; Great-Grandchildren: Kirsten (Tyler) Stacy of Abingdon, VA, Ryder Anderson of Grundy, VA, Ashlee Swiney of Lexington, NC, Alyson Swiney of Lexington, NC; Great-Great-Grandchildren: Carson, Lane and Kamryn Stacy of Abingdon, VA; Brothers: J.D. (Delilah) O'Quinn and Jimmy (Kathy) O'Quinn; Brother In Law: Dean Daniels.
Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for ODESSA O'QUINN RAINES will be conducted Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Larry David Ratliff officiating with entombment to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Claypool Hill, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be Rodney Anderson, Ryder Anderson, Amos Swiney, Tyler Stacy, Rickey Deel, Jimmy O'Quinn, Chase O'Quinn and Justin O'Quinn.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Dolinger, Lila Hall and the staff of English Meadows Abingdon Campus.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Staff of English Meadows Abingdon Campus for the love and care shown during her time there. Also, a thank you to the Staff of CARIS Healthcare and MSA Hospice.
