Patricia Lee Hogston

PATRICIA LEE (SMITH) HOGSTON, 87, of Grundy, VA, passed away peacefully at her home following an extended illness. Born in Grundy, VA, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Viola (Dotson) Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Pikeville, KY. She taught in the Buchanan County School System retiring in 1991 after 34 years of service. She was the past president of local chapter of Virginia Retired Teachers and was a member of the Red Hat Society where she had served as Vice Queen and Queen. Patricia was a member of the Friends of the Library, was a graduate of Pikeville College, an avid traveler, reader and gardener.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Eugene Hogston; Sister: Roberta Smith Swiney; Infant Son: Charles Leslie Hogston.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Arnella (Cindy) Lunsford; Grandsons: Jonathan Hogston and William Woodard; Great-Grandson: Trigger Lee Claybaugh; Sister: Charliece Fierbaugh; Sister-in-Law: Delphia Davis; Special Cousin: Sharon Lester.
Also, survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for PATRICIA LEE (SMITH) HOGSTON will be conducted Friday, October 24, 2025, at Noon at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Debby Bailey officiating with burial to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be James Swiney, Mack Swiney, Jeff Harrison, Denver Lester, Tyler Justus, Brian Boyd and Shannon Lester.
Honorary Pallbearers will be William Fierbaugh, Mike Stewart, Ron Tiller and Eddie Bailey.
