Funeral services were held for Mrs. Odessa Williams Roberts, age 90, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5th Street, Homer, LA, on Friday, January 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., and Rev. Jeff Roberts, officiated. Interment was at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA. Visitation was at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service.
Mrs. Odessa was born December 7, 1934, in Jamestown, LA, to Jurel and Lora Stewart Williams. She entered into rest on December 28, 2024, in Homer, LA. Mrs. Odessa attended and graduated from Homer High School. She then attended Warner Brown Nursing School in El Dorado, AR, and received an Associate’s Degree of Science in Nursing. Odessa served as an RN for three years at Presbyterian Village and 27 years at Homer Memorial Hospital. During that time, she met and married the love of her life, Dallas Roberts. They later had three sons that were all raised in Homer. Odessa was a passionate gardener, especially flowers. She was an active and vital member of Faith Baptist Church of Homer where she served her Lord, Jesus Christ. Every Sunday after church, she always had her family over for lunch in which fried chicken and her best casserole were served. Odessa was a devout Christian and read the Bible constantly.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dallas R. Roberts; son, Michael Roberts; sister and her husband, Nancy Howell and T.G. Howell; and brother, Charles “Chuck” Williams.
She is survived by her two sons, William Dale Roberts of Homer and Walter Andrew Roberts and wife Tonya of Lisbon; six grandchildren, Jessica Dooly and husband Cody, Julia Bowen and husband Josh, Delaney Roberts, Aidan Roberts, Michael Dallas Roberts and wife Tiffany, and Caleb Roberts; five great-grandchildren, Mason Dooly, Autumn Dooly, Karma Dooly, Evelyn Dooly, and Elijah Roberts; daughter-in-law, Barbara Roberts, widow of Micheal of Homer; sister-in-law, Betty Williams widow of Chuck; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Odessa’s family would like to express their gratitude to Sudie Tucker, Dr. Haynes and Claiborne Memorial Medical Center along with their staff for the care and compassion shown her.
Pallbearers were Tommy Prince, Jason Williams, Kaden Williams, David Howell, Austin Howell, Aidan Roberts, and Jamie Wren.
