Ofelia Olsen was born in San Antonio, Texas, January 5,1934 to Felix and Susie Gonzales. She was the second oldest of five children, three girls and two boys. She loved music and dancing and met the love of her life at a USO dance. Ofelia and Robert were married November 10, 1957, the Marine Corps Birthday, and remained married for 54 years. She was as much a Marine as Robert. They had five children, three boys and two girls. Ofelia was involved as a room mother, a Cub Scout Den Leader, and a Girl Scout Leader for over 30 years. Girl Scouts was her career. She was cookie chairperson, recruitment chairperson, National Delegate, and recipient of the Silver Trefoil award. She lived up to her Girl Scout nickname Sunshine and was known as Miss Ofelia to all.
Ofelia was preceded in death by her parents: Felix and Susie, siblings: Eva, Olivia, Arthur, and Felix. Her husband Robert, her oldest daughter Ramona Hernandez, and her daughter in law Karen Olsen. She is survived by her sons: Carl, Ken (Norma), David, Billy Hernandez and daughter: Carol O' Neal (Scott); 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
