Ola Fields Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Funerals by T. S. Warden - Jacksonville on Jun. 17, 2025.
Remembering Ola Shells Fields
Ola S. Fields in her own thoughts:
"Thank You all so much! I tried to do my best. This is my way of expressing heartfelt gratitude for so many meaningful connections I have had throughout life, that's a wonderful sentiment. I am grateful."
Ola helped to organize the International Longshoremen's Women's Auxiliary Club and was appointed to the Jacksonville Elderly Affair's Committee by the Jacksonville City Council. She also served on the district 7 Enhancement Committee, a group formed in 1991 by her son, then city council member, Terry Fields. This committee was formed to improve and advance specific areas of the community. They worked to create A. Philip Randolph Heritage Park, to honor a native of Jacksonville who became a US national leader and helped to organize the famous March on Washington in 1963.
Ola believed in equality for all people and helped with serving on many city and state committees to help push for the integration of schools in Duval County. One of her greatest achievements that she talked about previously was her work with the U.S. Census Bureau and other various job opportunities throughout her life. Of course, her greatest job being the wife of the late Paul Fields, Sr. mother to his children, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. Ola S. Fields was a very private person, upstanding citizen, and SHE WAS A PHONOMENAL WOMAN!
Ola was the oldest of five children and educated in the public schools of Duval County. She departed this life on Friday, June 13, 2025 and was preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Fields, Sr, and her daughter Brenda Fields-Leak.
She leaves cherished memories to her children, Paul Fields, Jr. (Linda), Clifton Fields, Terry Fields, and Jill Fields-Brooks, a host of grands, great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ola Fields was many things to many people. Not only was she my mother-in-law, she was my confidant,
she was my friend. The last thing she said to me was "I always enjoy our talks" I told her we would talk again. Now as I look back over the years she was such an essential part of our family´s life and keeping us together . In my heart I know if I need someone to talk to she will be listening.
