Oliver Rodriguez Obituary
Oliver "Ollie" Quinn Rodriguez became a special little boy welcomed into this world on February 12th, 2016, by his beloved parents, Joseph A. And Krystle (Edwards) Rodriguez in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and gained the title of little brother to Xander and Pilar. Born only 17 months apart, Ollie and Pilar became inseparable and the best of buds.
From a very young age, Ollie was in and out of Hospitals, but local doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong or why. After much time and research, the family decided to move to Harrison, Ohio in 2021 to be closer to Children's Hospital. It was later discovered Ollie had a very rare and unknown disease that only 5 other little boys in the whole world were known to have.
To say that Ollie was special is an understatement. Whether he was playing dress up with his sissy or video games with his big brother, Ollie always had the biggest smile on his face and was such a good sport in everything he did. Ollie was also a lover of "bad" music and would play "Who let the dogs out" in his bedroom on repeat so much, his Daddy programmed Alexa to play a joke every time he asked for the song. His laughter was contagious. Ollie was also the biggest Spiderman fan and would wear his costumes as often as his parents would let him, lighting up smiles on faces everywhere he went. This not only cheered everyone up, but he made himself feel better too. Ollie always had his special baby puppy with him, which often brought him comfort during the many doctor's visits and hospitalizations he endured. Ollie was often in pain and would distract himself by building legos, which became one of his favorite activities. Even with so much fatigue in his final days, he made one last trip to the Lego Store with his best friend, Colton. Ollie had just finished one Lego set and started another one with his Dad and Xander hours before he passed. In the late afternoon of May 2, 2024, Ollie was holding his Daddy's hand and embraced by his Mommy's comforting love when he took his final breath in his bed and peacefully left this Earth to go be with Jesus in Heaven.
He leaves a legacy of unwavering strength to be carried on by his parents: Joseph and Krystle Rodriguez; big brother Xander; big sister Pilar; dog: Kody; grandparents: Oscar & Michelle Rodriguez, Stacey & Chris Becker, and Karen Edwards; great grandparents: Juanita Goldstien, Gloria Rodriguez, and Dorothy Shoulders; Aunts & Uncles: Marcial & Linda Rodriguez, Vivian & Joseph Creedon, Chris Rodriguez, and Allison Rudd; cousins: Oscar & Laurelynn Rodriguez; and many friends from the 2nd grade at Harrison Elementary along with his teachers and his amazing team of doctors and nurses from Children's hospitals around the country that became extended family.
Ollie will be welcomed home in heaven by his grandpa Kirt Edwards; his dog Lela; and great grandpas.
Visitation for our Super Hero Ollie will be at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Celebration of Ollie's life will be held at Harrison High School Activity Center, 9845 West Road Harrison, Ohio 45030 on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 5 pm.
The family request memorials to go directly to the family or to the CCHMC Child life department in the form of legos ages 6+.
Ollie touched so many lives around him. As you move forward with your own life, if you ever walk into a spider web, it's a good chance that's just Ollie playing a joke on you and reminding you that everything is okay, he's just watching over you.
