Olivia Perry Obituary
Olivia Doretha Littlejohn Perry was born on May 21, 1928, to Mr. Earl Littlejohn and Ms. Phoebe White in Arthur City, Texas. She received her formal education in Lamar County Texas. She later relocated to Amarillo furthering her collegiate education at Amarillo College School of Nursing obtaining a Nursing degree.
She met and later married Deacon Johnnie Perry. To this union, they were blessed with nine children. She was a dedicated wife and loving mother. She adored and enjoyed three generations of grands.
Mrs. Perry worked as a private nurse, at NWTH, The Pavilion, and retired from the Veterans Hospital of Amarillo, ending her 40-year nursing career. She also worked as an attendant at Warford Mortuary serving numerous families for 37 years. Mrs. Perry served Amarillo's North Heights community, giving her time and support to various organizations. She was a member of the Amarillo Branch NAACP and a lifelong member of Panhandle Queen Court #217 Order of Calanthe.
In the early sixties, the family united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. J.W. Hackett. She was a devoted servant in various capacities such as church secretary, president of the Mission, Deaconess, and member of the Church Choir and Mission Chorus. For many years she was an active member of the Original West Texas District Association. She served as secretary and a delegate for the Congress. In her later years, she united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. V.P. Perry. She continued her membership under the leadership of Rev. Morris Mitchell, Sr. until her health began to fail.
Mrs. Perry is preceded in death by her husband Deacon Johnnie Perry, parents, daughter Theresa, three sons Willie Earl, John Lewis, and Charles Lewis, brother Jessie Lewis Danger eld, son-in-law Perry Floyd, Jr, three grandchildren Reginald Jackson, Jacquelyn Perry, Tiffany Hill and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Perry leaves to cherish her memory and legacy a son Leroy Perry (LaShawn) of Mans eld, TX, daughters Janett Faultry, and Kathy Floyd both of Amarillo, Barbara Jackson (Marvin Sr.) of Lancaster, TX, and Regina Perry of Arlington, TX. 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
