Mrs. Opal Ann Barber, 81, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025. She was born on January 10, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Shelly Slaton Spencer and Hazel Christine Barnes Spencer.
Mrs. Opal was a dedicated homemaker who devoted her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm, loving environment in her home. Her greatest joy came from her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, where she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She was a member of Clearview Baptist Church, where she participated in various church activities and contributed to the community. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support left a lasting impact on her family, who will forever remember her kindness and love.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Mayfield, and her brothers, Tommy Spencer, James "Slick" Spencer, and Robert "Dude" Spencer.
She leaves behind her loving family, which includes her children, Nancy Wallace (Rob), Sandy Williams (David), and Tib Barber (Susan); grandchildren, Allen Barber (Tiffany), Joshua Wallace (Alex), Naomi Hack (Josh), Jacob Wallace, Kadi Williams (Tanner), Taylor Shoffner (Jessie), Gunnar Barber, Shawn Garmon, and Lauren White; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends. Mrs. Opal was very fortunate to have Amanda & Adam Bruno, who cared for her and were loved by her in return.
A celebration of life will honor Mrs. Opal on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
