Opal Elmore

Opal Elmore, age 99 passed away on December 10, 2025, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC.

She was born on September 21, 1926, and made her home in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Opal graduated from Anderson Creek High School and went on to earn an associate degree from Campbell College, an accomplishment she was always proud of. She retired from Martin-Marietta in Raleigh, where she dedicated 40 years of loyal service.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Raleigh and enjoyed being part of the 49ers Senior Group. Opal found joy in life's simple pleasures-bird watching, tending to her flowers, reading, and watching her favorite show, "The Golden Girls."

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, William Guthrie Elmore and Susan Elmore; her siblings, Annie Elmore Polinski, Kermit Elmore, and Wayman Elmore.

She is survived by her nephews, Paul Polinski and wife Kim of Linden, NC; William Polinski of Spring Lake, NC; and Joseph Polinski and wife Jo-Ann of Spring Lake, NC; her nieces, Beth Butler and husband Stevie of Fayetteville, NC, and Sherry Patterson and husband Steve of Mamers, NC; along with a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
