Opal Juday, 98, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025 at Goshen Hospital.

She was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Cayuga, Indiana, to George and Edna (Arnold) Greenawalt.

She married George Juday on April 3, 1943, in Goshen. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2015.

Opal was a lifelong Goshen resident and a devoted homemaker. She was a proud Cub Scouts mother, a member of the Porter Township Fire Auxiliary, and the 42nd Infantry Division Auxiliary. She had a love for Notre Dame football, and was an avid mushroom hunter. Opal cherished her family- especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren- and enjoyed cross-stitch. Known for her strong independence, she took pride in living in her own home until her passing.

She is survived by her children, Floyd (Mary) Juday of Venice, FL, Rodney (Sharon) Juday of White Pigeon, MI, Rita (Dick) Stutsman of Three Rivers, MI, and Sonja (Ken) Airgood, Marshall, WI; four grandchildren, Mike Juday, Nick Juday, Amy Barnes, and Ryan Juday; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cooper, Jovi, Sydney, Maddy, and Althea.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband, sisters, Edythe Shapland, Druscilla Trosper, Muriel Craft, Ellen Greenawalt, and Iva Ritter, along with her brother, Bill Greenawalt.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, September 8, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the donor's choice, in lieu of flowers.
