Jean Ann Oyer, 87, of Goshen, died Monday, September 1, 2025 at Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born October 30, 1937 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Clyde and Edna (Bauer) Benson.

On November 28, 1959 she married Bernard Oyer in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death along with her parents.

She is survived by a son, Clifford (Lois) Oyer, Goshen; a daughter, Carolyn (Bill) Russell, Huntley, Illinois; two grandchildren, Eric (Brittany Burley) Russell, Oxford Oaks, Florida, and Dirk Oyer, Goshen; and a sister, Nancy (Bob) Norwood, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Jean grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating in 1956 from Will Rogers High School. She went on to graduate in 1959 from West Suburban School of Nursing in Oak Park, Illinois.

Jean was a loving caretaker of her family and patients. She was proud to be a nurse and continued working at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois until her retirement.

She was a member of Lombard Mennonite Church in Lombard, Illinois until she moved to Goshen and joined Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen.

She enjoyed crafting, sewing and ceramics as well as collecting P. Buckley-Moss artwork.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen.

Burial will be Wednesday, September 17 at 1:30 p.m. CST, at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Mennonite Central Committee and Waterford Mennonite Church.
