A celebration of life everlasting took place on August 23, 2025 as Opal C. McCarty Morgan entered the gates of heaven. She was welcomed by Jesus and all the family and friends that have gone on before her.

Opal was born August 17, 1926 on Nolan's Run in Lumberport. She was the fifth daughter of seven children born to the late Omer C. McCarty and Elsie B. Fortney McCarty of Lumberport.

In addition to her parents, preceding her in death is her Father-in-Law, John Morgan and Mother-in-Law, Lorna Welch Morgan; her husband, Robert L. Morgan, and sisters June Watkins and husband, Glen of Lumberport; Maxine Jurkus and husband, Chet of Bedford, VA; Betty Goodwin and husband, Fred of Clarksburg; Dorthea Goodwin and husband, Jack of Bridgeport; sister-in law, Arlene Jordan and husband, Paul of Flushing, Ohio; sister-in-law, Louise Goff and husband, Ralph of Shinnston; brother-in-law, Gervaise (Duke) Morgan and wife Jackie of Shinnston; brother-in-law, Harold Morgan and wife Louise of Bingamon; brother-in-law, Stanley Morgan of Shinnston and brother-in-law Steve Bucsanyi of Beach City, TX.

Opal is survived by her daughter, Gloria Morgan Dye and her husband, Robert I. Dye and daughter Kelly Southern as well as her daughter Linda Morgan Lycans and her husband, Terry and son, Robert L. Dye. Also surviving is her brother, Wayne McCarty and his wife, Shirley of Kingwood and sister, Delores Bucsanyi of Beach City, Texas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was employed at St. Mary's Hospital in the 1960's and then at UHC, Inc. where she retired in 1986 after 26 years of service. During her employment she worked first in the cafeteria at St. Mary's and then she moved to Central Supply for the remainder of her employment.

Opal was a member of the Coons Run Baptist Church, where she attended for most of her life, and was involved with decorating, cleaning and helping with special dinners.

She lived on Pleasant Hill in Shinnston for most of her life. In 2011, she came to live with her granddaughter Kelly in Lumberport. The last 14 years have been filled with love and family. Opal has enjoyed sitting on the sunporch in her swing and many, many family meals around the dining room table. Opal will be sadly missed by those who love her and we will be looking forward to the next time we meet at God's great table in heaven.
