Opal Louise Odom, age 77, of Kemp, Texas, passed away on October 29, 2025. She was born on October 7, 1948, in Dallas, Texas, to Allie and Louise (Parish) Vess.
Opal attended cosmetology school and later pursued a career in the medical field, specializing in billing until her retirement. She was known for her kindness, selflessness, and deep devotion to her family and faith.
She found joy in simple pleasures—family gatherings, church on Sundays, coffee on the porch watching hummingbirds, and gardening. Her laughter, storytelling, and thoughtful gestures, like never forgetting a birthday, will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Allie and Louise Vess; brothers, Oscar Earl, Bobby, and Jimmy; sisters, Claudine, Mary Alice, and Dorothy; and granddaughter, Heather.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 61 years, Michael Odom; daughter, Rhonda Claiborne and husband Tony; son, Michael Wayne Odom; brother, Billy Wayne; grandchildren, Matt, Shaina, Brittani, Kaylee, Kylie, Garret, and Laci; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
