Opal Lucille Zettle, age103, passed away on February 21, 2025 at the Heritage Woods Assisted Living Center in Huntley, IL. She was born on October 2, 1921 in Industry, IL, the daughter of William and Alice Beatty Bridges. She married Charles "Chick" Zettle on June 1, 1940 in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on Nov 11, 1991. She is survived by her son, Tom ( Seong ju Kim) Zettle of Chicago, one daughter, Donna (Ron) Haffron of Huntley, IL, grandchildren Chantel Harp, Tyler (Melissa) Harp, Kimberly (Michael) Luxenberg, Kathryn (Jim) Reynolds, great-grandchildren Dylan Luxenberg, Ellison Kaltenbach, Chloe Luxenberg, Carter Kaltenbach, Samantha Reynolds, Callen Kaltenbach, Nathan Reynolds, Henry Harp, and Charlie Harp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daugher Mary L. Zettle, her three sisters Evelyn Adams, Ordelta Baker, Mildred Roberts and her brother Jay Bridges.
Opal worked all her life with her husband, Chick, on the family farm. She was a former member of the Camp Creek Church. She was an avid gardener and was very proud of her beautiful flowers. Opal was also an excellent seamstress.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, IL. Rev. Dr. Rene Whitaker will officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
