Ophelia D. de Asis, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, peacefully passed away on November 15, 2025, just two days after celebrating her joyous 99th birthday. Born in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines on November 13, 1926, Ophelia's remarkable life was defined by dignity, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Ophelia was predeceased by her husband, Anselmo M. de Asis, Sr., who passed in 1979. Her legacy continues through her seven children: Teresita Bautista (Armando Aguilar), Bonifacio (Emma), Dan (Jovi), Anselmo Jr., MD (Pamela Perkins), Melinda (Romulo Corpuz), Oscar (Myrna) and Richard. Ophelia delighted in travel, quilting, playing mahjong and in her ever-growing family, which includes 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, each inspired by her courage, generosity, and strong will.
Throughout her long life, Ophelia was the heart of every gathering-a beacon of encouragement, kindness, and wisdom for friends and family alike. She faced life's challenges with grace, always finding reasons to celebrate and cherish. Her great adventure in moving the entire family from the Philippines to New York City in 1972 was a testament to her determination and vision. Her love was a gift, deeply felt and freely given, and her memory will forever live on in the stories, laughter, and traditions she leaves behind.
The family is profoundly grateful for the love and support shared with Ophelia throughout her lifetime. Her spirit will be honored during visitation hours (4:00 -7:00 pm) at Anthony Funeral Home, 2305 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, NY on Friday, November 21, 2025. A mass celebrating Ophelia's faith will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at St. John of Rochester, Fairport, NY. A reception will immediately follow at Pane Vino on the Avenue located at 3400 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, NY.
Her legacy is one of joy, gratitude, and a life beautifully lived. She will be missed beyond measure and remembered always with love.
