Edith passed peacefully on November 11, 2025 at the age of 94, at Highland Hospital with a small number of her close family members in attendance.
Edith was born in Alberta, Canada on a rural farm. She immigrated to the US at age 19 to live with her aunt and her family in the Rochester, New York area. She married Gary Onusseit at age 23 and remained married to him until his death in 2021.
Edith had a wide variety of jobs over the decades including hotel maid, school cafeteria worker, bank teller, factory worker and most recent, horse back riding instructor and owner of her own horse farm.
Edith had a great love of horses and other animals, loved traveling to Aruba, and square dancing. She was a hard-worker, was strong, persistent, feisty, and had a sense of humor.
Edith attended Pittsford Community Church for decades. She had many wonderful friends from the church and in the community that had helped her tremendously over the years. The family extends their gratitude to the church and to her friends for all of their love, prayers and help.
She is survived by her children, Glenn Onusseit, Gail Hurley, and Cheryl (Wayne) Cope, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
She will be interred at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford.
