Oral David Helton, of Hixson, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2025. He was 71.

David was born in Cleveland, Tennessee. David graduated from Ooltewah High School. He played basketball and baseball. He was an awesome pitcher.

David retired as Chief Inspector from U.S. Pipe and Foundry after 31 years of service. He served proudly in the Tennessee Army National Guard C1-181st Field Artillery Battalion. David was Honorably discharged as a Master Sargeant after 20 years of service. He later retired from Hamilton County Parks and Recreation after 12 years of employment. David spent years as a umpire for TSSAA/ Dizzy Dean. Most recently He was employed by Auto Zone in Hixson for the last year.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Hoover and Robbie Dean Helton; brother, Kenneth Helton; and father-in-law, Lewis E. Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sallie Green Helton; daughter, Lachelle Helton; son, Micheal Helton; grandson, Luke Harmon and granddaughter, Laura Helton; two sisters, Marie (Chuck) Rogers and Kristy (Brian) Higdon; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee. The service will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Smith and Steve Bearden officiating. The inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
