Oralia Mendez, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on July 4, 1940, and throughout her lifetime, Oralia remained a beacon of love and warmth, enriching the lives of those around her.
Oralia had a profound appreciation for nature, often found in her garden, tending to her cherished plants. Her love for the outdoors was matched only by her joy in sharing quiet moments over a steaming cup of coffee with family and friends. The family bond was of utmost importance to her; she would spend countless hours talking on the phone with her siblings, forging connections that bridged any distance.
She is survived by her devoted children, Anna Heredia (Fernando), Roxanne Salinas (Gustavo), Thelma Mendez, Albert Mendez (Christina), Jeff Mendez (Sandra), and Joe Mendez, along with 25 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild carry forward her legacy of love. Oralia also leaves behind her cherished siblings: Albert Reyna, Guadalupe Reyna, Elana Rangel, and Ernestina Vasquez, who will forever treasure the memories they shared.
Oralia's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, as she was preceded by her beloved spouse, Jesse Mendez Sr., her son, Jesse Mendez Jr., and her dear siblings: Guillermo "Willie" Reyna, Renaldo Reyna, and Isabelle Reyna Aguilar. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Tomasa Delgado Reyna and Gilbert Reyna.
A visitation to celebrate Oralia’s life will be held on October 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas. As we gather to remember and honor her, let us embrace the cherished memories of a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of many and whose spirit will live on in the love of her family and friends.
