Orla J. Merriman, 68, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 2:44 AM, Thursday, May 23, 2024 at HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Unity Baptist Church, Vandalia, with Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 AM, Saturday, at the church. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Van Burensburg. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family or an organization of the donor's choice. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com
Orla Jo Wallace was born on August 22, 1955 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Stanley Franklin "Jack" Wallace and Charlotte (Wallace) Evans. She married Michael Earl Merriman on October 27, 1996; together they celebrated nearly 28 years of marriage.
Throughout the years, she worked as a Direct Support Professional doing in-home healthcare. Orla also had many hobbies. She had an avid love for photography, camping, traveling, swimming, flower gardening, and riding the motorcycle with her husband. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Merriman is survived by her husband, Mike Merriman of Vandalia; son, Aaron Corley of Mount Pulaski; daughter, Alicia Corley of Mount Pulaski; son, Adrian Corley and wife Danielle of Bloomington; step-son, Dustin Merriman of Vandalia; brothers, Jack Wallace of Bloomington and Harry Evans and wife Loretta of Cowden; sisters, Cathy and husband Chuck Lilly of Beecher City, Tina and husband Scott West of Lakewood, Tammy and husband Tim Culberson of Shelbyville, Teri and husband Roy Tull of Shelbyville, Kathy and husband Brad Roberts of Coeur d'Alene, ID; grandchildren, Alexis, Sophia, Priscilla, Leone, Alana, Layla, and Devon; extended family and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlotte and Charles Evans and her birth father, "Jack" Wallace.
