Allen Henry Schmid, age 94, of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at SBL Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia, IL.

Allen was born November 19, 1930 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Fred Schmid and Anna (Torbeck) Schmid. He married Vivian Carson on April 17, 1960 in Ramsey, IL. She passed away on February 14, 2025. Allen served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He worked for Country Companies as an insurance salesman for many years. After his retirement from selling insurance, he drove cars for Hosick Motors. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his children, Mark (Tracy) Schmid of Auburn, IL and Glori (Tim) Campbell of Vandalia, IL; his grandchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Schmid, Beth (JJ) Hawk, Marissa (Caleb) Snyder, Matthew (Mariah) Campbell, and Asley (Connor) Berola; and 7 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian Schmid, his sister, Marjorie Moeller; and 3 brothers-in-law.

Services will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia, IL, officiated by Pastor Brad Frye. Burial will follow the funeral service at Fairlawn cemetery in Vandalia, IL. A visitation will be held Monday, October 20, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, both at the St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia, IL. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church and/or donor's choice. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.millerfh.net.
