Obituary of Orlando D. Stewart
Orlando Darnell Stewart Sr. was born on May 4, 1961, in Chicago, to Nathan Webb, Sr. and Bernice Stewart.
Darnell graduated from Wendell Phillips High School in 1979, then earned his degree from Lincoln Tech in Auto Mechanics. He also held various positions in other fields. Darnell was last employed at Pactive Evergreen where he was a dedicated and loyal employee for over 18 years. He was excellent with his hands, as he also had a passion for landscaping and working on cars. He enjoyed listening to music and watching sports.
Darnell confessed his love for Christ and was baptized at WestPoint Baptist Church at an early age. He later went on to join Jubilee Baptist Church.
Darnell will be remembered most by his enjoyment of being around family and friends. He was a very sociable man, with an unimaginable sense of humor, and was the life of the party. Darnell loved get-togethers, holidays and picnics. He was also the one you could call on in any situation or emergency because he had a heart of gold. He was definitely a family man and protector.
Darnell met and married the love of his life, Melbernice Devers, and to this union four children were born.
He leaves to cherish his wife, Melbernice; seven children, Aaron, Rowena, Donella, Orlando Jr., Dakota, Bobby, and D'Shaune; his mother, Bernice Stewart; four sisters, Angela, Jeanice, Rosita, Nieta; one brother, Nathan Jr.; and three grandchildren, Kayln, Karmelo and Kaleah. A Host of Uncles, Aunties, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, friends and other relatives also survive.
Darnell was preceeded in death by his father, Nathan Sr., and brothers, Tyrone and Norvell.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 10:00 a.m., until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Cremation rites will be accorded following services, and interment will be private.
