Obituary of Dolores Reed
It is with both joy and sorrow that we share the news that our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dolores Reed, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025, to be with the Lord. Our sorrow is from the grief of her absence, but our joy comes from knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord, reunited with her parents, Mary and Louis; her aunt, Emily; brother, Louis, Jr.; many dear friends, and that one day, we will see her again.
Dolly grew up on the south side of Chicago and later moved to Joliet, to be closer to her children. She was deeply devoted to her faith and was a founding member of the Women of Wisdom group at New Life Community Church. Dolly was an avid crocheter and a plant enthusiast throughout her life. She also had a passion for traveling, visiting places like Egypt, the Grand Cayman Islands, Spain, and Italy, just to name a few.
Dolly is survived by her children, Celeste, Mary, Kathleen (the late Stanley), Deborah, Krystyna, and David (Christine). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Emily, Jared (Jessica), Julie, (Josh), Ed (Andrea), Dustin, Stephanie, Lindsey (Eric), Ryan, Katelyn, Brandon, and Austin. Additionally, she is survived by great-grandchildren, Madison, the late Sean, Hailee, Olivia, Holden, Aubrey, Xavier, Landon, and Mason. Dolly is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
We will always cherish her love, strength, wisdom, and unwavering faith.
Funeral Services for Dolores Reed will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, for a Memorial Gathering from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded.
