Orpha M. Yorks

Orpha Mae (Spriggle) Yorks, 92, of McAlisterville, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Brookline Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Mifflintown.

Born on September 29, 1932 in Richfield, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Wilford "Jack" and Carrie Mabel (Rauch) Spriggle.

On March 25, 1951, she married her late husband, Charles F. "Junior" Yorks, Jr. with whom she was blessed to share over 74 years of marriage before his passing on July 30, 2025.

She is survived by her children, Marvin S. Yorks and his wife Nancy and Barbara D. Varner and her husband Tony, all of McAlisterville ; Toby Yorks and his wife Erica, Jessica Berry and her husband Jeff, Drew Yorks and his wife Brandy, Olivia Lopez and her husband Wilbur, Joshua Varner and his wife Taren, Clinton Varner and his wife Samantha; fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; and one sister, Dorothy Leitzel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stillborn granddaughter, Morgan Varner; and two sisters, Norma "Jane" Strawser and Helen Sheaffer.

Mrs. Yorks is a 1950 graduate of Fayette Twp. High School and was a member and had attended the McAlisterville United Methodist Church.

In earlier life, she was employed by two local garment factories, was a Tupperware Lady, and had worked at the Bread of Life Restaurant in McAlisterville.

Orpha enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, cooking, baking, and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates; however, spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren was her true love.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, September 26, 2025 at Stony Run Mission, 2825 Evendale Hill Road, McAlisterville with the Rev. Nicholas Smith officiating. Interment will be private at Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the Memorial Services at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 26th at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Yorks' memory to the McAlisterville Senior Citizens Center, 158 Lions Den Drive, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
