Orville Belt, 78, rode into the sunset on July 17th, 2025. Orville passed with his family by his side at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, WY. Orville was born to Elizabeth and Samuel Belt on October 26th, 1946 in Pine Ridge, SD.

Orville was one of 8 brothers and sisters and came from a large family. Orville grew up in Oglala and attended school at Loneman School in Oglala, SD. Orville was a cowboy at heart and was very passionate about Bronc Riding till the end. Orville loved to attend rodeos and participated in them in his early years. Orville's other passion was being a mechanic, and he was a great one at that. He enjoyed tinkering and working on anything that had a motor. He passed his mechanic skills on to his nephew Orrie "Sonny" Morrison Jr. If Orville wasn't working on a vehicle, you could find him outside enjoying the beauty and peace that nature offered. Orville's favorite past time was watching "Star Trek", going to the casino, and playing guitar. His daughter would constantly request him to play "Achy Breaky Heart", and he loved to entertain family by playing the guitar.

Orville cherished his time visiting and catching up with family and friends. He was a celebrity wherever he went; that was his personality. Everyone that has met him has a story to tell (usually a funny one), and he had many stories to tell of his adventures. Everyone knew Orville was in town when you seen his little yellow truck. One story he loved to tell was the time he worked for Conrad Hilton on his Texas ranch. He got to go fishing on his boat and ate a seafood meal fit for a king. Another favorite memory of his, as a young boy, was spending time with his Grandma Emma at her home.

Orville is survived by his partner in life Bonnie Spang-Belt; children Lavonne, Orville Jr., and Roger Belt, Latisha (Brian) Wester, Lakota (Shann) Belt, Joesph Jr., Sydney, and Jolisa Bahr; sisters Virginia "Virge" Yankton, Marjorie "Marge" Spider and Sarah Belt; grandchildren Martina, Elizabeth, Emma, McKenzie, Justice, Miles, Kathryn, David, Charles, Lester, Joseph, Orville III, Orin, Olivia. Madison, Roger Jr., Damian, Cole, Aleah, Amaya, Rileigh, Brendan, Liam, Zaiden, Axton, Dakota, Jessica, Joe III, Chenee', Deandre, Delano, Misun, and Shahila; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he all loved dearly that are too many to name, as well as many friends.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Calvin and Alphonso Belt; sisters Leona and Thomasina Belt, Christine "Kay" Belt-Provost; grandsons Bill and Ben Bahr; paternal grandparents, Frank Belt and Elizabeth Walks Out; and maternal grandparents, Thomas Flood and Emma Gillespie.

Pallbearers will be Wanbli Morrison, Orin J. Morrison, Joseph Morrison, Blaine White Eyes, Ambrose Belt Jr., Cornell Belt, Calvin Carlow, Kyle Yankton, Henry Belt, Curt Morrison, Alphonso Belt Jr., and Kevin Belt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Orrie "Sonny" Morrison Jr. and family, Darlis and Rex Crow & Family, Lena Belt & Family, Marjorie "Marge" Spider & Family, Virginia "Virge" Yankton & Family, Oliver Garnier, Lloyd Rouillard Sr., Auriela Walks Out, Belt Family, Spang Family, Youngman Family, Dreaming Bear Family, Two Bulls Family, Morrison Family, Ten Fingers Family, Brave Family, Dreamer Family, Spider Family, Yankton Family, and All Friends & Relatives from the Northern Cheyenne and Oglala Sioux Tribes.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Wyoming Medical Center, staff at the Life Care Center of Casper, the dialysis centers in Billings and Casper, Oglala Sioux Tribe, and Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge. We would like to especially thank everyone who came to visit dad, shared their memories of him, those who said prayers for Orville and the family, everyone who offered helped in any capacity. We're sorry if we left anyone out, as Orville had a large family and circle of friends, in our time of grief.

We will miss and love you dad. Thank you for all the memories and stories and we hope you enjoyed your last rodeo. We will see you again.
