Mr. Oscar Levi Markham was born on April 20, 1959, to the late Frank Joe Lowe and the late Earnestine Gilmore Markham. He departed from this earthly life on Monday, October 6, 2025.

He was the youngest of six children born in which two preceded him in death: his brother, John A. Markham and one sister, Jacqueline Coleman Okoreeh-Baah.

He was a 1977 graduate of Melrose High School and attended University of Tennessee at Martin. He was employed by Cleo Wrap in Memphis, Tennessee, Delta Queen Steamboat Company in New Orleans, Service Merchandise and various companies throughout Nashville, Tennessee. His last employment was with the Nashville Public Library until his health failed.

Oscar was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Bessie Markham and to this union they had no children. He professed hope in Christ at an early age, accepted him as his personal savior and was baptized at Beulah Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee under the leadership of Reverend W. C. Holmes. He attended several churches throughout Davidson County and last joined Kairo's AME Church.

He was a father figure to his nephews, neighbor's children, other family members and friends. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to dress and wear hats. Oscar enjoyed spending time with the Elderly. He was especially kind and generous toward children and young Adults. Oscar was loved by everyone who met him.

He was a loving brother and devoted uncle, who will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memories; a devoted loving wife of 31 years, Bessie Markham, three sisters, Ella (Alreco) Davis, and Sheila Markham of Memphis Tennessee, and Frances Coleman of Nashville, Tennessee. Brother-n-Law, Isacc Okoreeh-Baah, Sr., Devoted cousins Jarvis Flynn and Jephanie Bean; devoted friends Dejuano Crutcher, Jonesan (Bam) Jackson and the entire Jackson family.
