Byrone Darine Marshall, Sr., departed this life on March 11, 2026. He was born on December 11, 1971, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Deborah Marshall and Michael Sullivan, Sr.

At a young age, Byrone joined Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Herbert Brown. His grandmother, the late Peaches Manning, lovingly reared him and played a significant role in his upbringing and spiritual foundation.

Byrone attended McGavock High School and graduated in 1991. During his time there, he was active in athletics, participating in football and wrestling. He was especially proud to have been a member of the 1987 Championship football team. Byrone was also a proud member of the “Guess Who?” stepping organization, where he built lasting friendships and enjoyed the spirit of brotherhood and performance.

Byrone dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the culinary profession and was widely respected as a talented chef throughout the Nashville area. His experience included working at several well-known restaurants, including Amerigo, P.F. Chang’s, and O’Charley’s. Cooking was more than a career for Byrone—it was a passion he enjoyed sharing with family, friends, and anyone fortunate enough to enjoy his meals.

Outside of work, Byrone loved music, family gatherings, and spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy. Known as the family comedian, he had a natural gift for making others laugh and bringing warmth to every room he entered. He was also an avid sports fan who proudly supported the Dallas Cowboys, the Miami Hurricanes, and the Alabama Crimson Tide—often declaring “Roll Tide.”

Byrone was preceded in death by his parents, Deborah Marshall and Michael Sullivan, Sr.; his grandmother, Peaches Manning; his great-grandmother, Mary E. Voss; his aunt, Cheryl Missack; his uncles, George French, Sr., Albert Martindale, and Dewayne Whitlow; and his niece, Ty'Shanna Marshall.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories and legacy: his children, Byron (Jessica) Marshall, Jr., Demario Marshall, Jeremiah Marshall, and Kiara Dunn; and his beloved grandchildren, Nevaeh and Braylon Marshall, Takania Harris, Kingsley Dunn, and Kensley Holt.

His siblings also survive him: Tyrone (Shanna) Marshall, Lamont Marshall, Travis (Kristen) Marshall, Brandy Marshall, Shemeka Sullivan, Yolanda Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Jr., and Donna McGee.

Byrone leaves a host of loving relatives including his father-like figure, Jimmy Lee Knight; his devoted aunt, who was like a sister to him, Ernestine Swafford; his aunts and uncles, Shirley McCray, Sharon Whitlow, Michael Miller, James Sullivan, Julius (Patricia) Sullivan, Ronnie Sullivan, Carolyn Sullivan, and Emma Sullivan; and his great-aunt, Veatrice (Rev. Leroy) Hatchett.

He also leaves his devoted companion, Tonia Ward; extended families Alice Washington and Family and Leslie Johnson & Family; his devoted cousin, James Churchwell; and devoted friends Ticen Ervin, Anthony Leonard, Chris Galloway, Isaiah Isom, Eric Whitfield, Sheena Mullins, Jennifer Ward, Ronald Reedy, William Raines, Troy Woods, Steve Boyd, Antonio Summers, and Chad Lee, along with many other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Byrone Darine Marshall, Sr., will be remembered for his warm spirit, infectious laughter, dedication to his family, and his passion for cooking. His legacy of love, humor, and resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
