McConnell, Oscar Thomas Jr., 77, Cresson, died Monday, December 16, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Born February 5, 1947, in Cresson, son of the late Oscar and Mary Rita (Farabaugh) McConnell. Preceded in death by wife of 54 years, Nancy A. (Eckenrode) McConnell; brothers, Ronald and P. Frederic, Joseph, and Frank; and sisters, Patricia Vermeulin and Joan Stolarski. Survived by children, Oscar Thomas III, Cresson; Todd (Emily), Palmyra; Troy (Jeannette), Loretto; Trent (Corlyn), Ebensburg; Travis, Lilly; 13 grandchildren, Kendall, Issac, Elwood, Tillman, Tristan, Trace, Tory, Ty, Aurora, Levi, Gavin, Ava and Linkin; and siblings, Peggy Jasper, Gallitzin; and Rick, Nicktown. Also survived by brother-in-law, Richard Vermeulin, Portage; and numerous nieces and nephews. Known to everyone as Tom, he enjoyed golf and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He retired from L. Robert Kimball living his passion as a professional Civil Engineer. Tom was a veteran of the Big Red One during his service in Vietnam. Member of the Basilia of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto. Friends and family will be received Friday, December 20, 2024 from 4-8 p.m., Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cresson. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 9 a.m., Basilia of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, the Very Rev. John Byrnes celebrant. Military Honors will be provided by the Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW and other local military organizations. Private committal St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery, Cresson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic School, Cresson or St. Michael School, Loretto.
