Oscar Lee Strother, Jr., age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Three Rivers, Michigan, on June 5, 2025.

A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and proud U.S. Navy Veteran, Oscar's life was rooted in service, family, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

Born on August 30, 1948, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to Oscar Lee and Vernice Strother, Sr., Oscar grew up with a strong work ethic and close family ties that stayed with him throughout his life. He honorably served in the United States Navy, where he developed a lifelong interest in military history and a love for his country that never wavered.

On October 22, 1974, Oscar married the love of his life, Cindy Wyeth, in Detroit, Michigan. They shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. He spent five decades in Detroit working as a mechanic, primarily for overseas container companies including Container Port Group, where his skill and dedication were well respected.

After retirement, Oscar relocated to the Chicago area to be closer to his daughter, and five months ago moved again to Three Rivers to be near more of his family. A man of simple pleasures and deep passions, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, and spending time outdoors. He was a fan of old-style country music, war movies, fishing shows, and anything related to history-especially military history.

Above all, Oscar loved and remained close to his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Strother; his children, Oscar Lee Strother III of Three Rivers, MI, and Trish Lynn (Ben) Joslin of Winthrop Harbor, IL; his granddaughters, Abbigail and Danielle Joshlun; his sister Sharon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Ray Funeral Services, 305 Rock River Ave., Three Rivers, MI, 49093, 269-278-1515, has been entrusted with his care.
