Othel Wayne Lancaster, 92, of Nimrod, passed away on June 16, 2025. Visitation will be 1:00 PM, Friday, June 20, 2025, at Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church in Hollis, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Will Doughty and Rev. Johnny Bratton officiating. Burial will be in Nooner Cemetery, Hollis, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Othel proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Wasp. After his service, he worked as a logger and was also a dedicated chicken and cattle farmer. He loved his cattle, and he especially loved running dogs. The thrill of a big buck race brought him to life-he'd stop at nothing to get in front of his dogs. His passion for deer hunting ran deep, and he passed that love on to the next generation. He loved to sing in church and was a lifelong member of Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church in Hollis. He never missed an opportunity to gather and worship the Lord in song with others.
Born September 8, 1932, in Plainview, Arkansas, he was the son of John and Lola Flewellen Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 53 years, Anna Mae Lancaster; his sister, Inez Dickson; his brother, James Frank Lancaster; one son, Terry Jo Lancaster; and a stepson, Jeffery Rankin.
