Otis Hayswood Cornish son of the late Otis R. and Evangeline Cornish was born in Seaford, De, on September 6, 1945. He transitioned to eternal life on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
Otis "Buddy" as he was affectionately known, received his formal education from William C. Jason Comprehensive High School. He was employed with the George & Lynch Construction Company before becoming a self-employed masonry contractor. Many strong foundations in our area have been formed by his hands. Additionally, Otis was a member of the Cement Masonry Union and retired from the masonry field in 2019.
He was the inspiration and namesake of The Hayswood Investment Company, LLC founded by his daughter, Monique Cornish and granddaughter Dr. Alexis Truitt.
Otis enjoyed riding in his truck and visiting family and friends while reflecting on stories of the past. He was passionate about helping others. It would only take one call and he would be right there.
He was affiliated with Philadelphia Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ellendale, Delaware.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Robinson-Cornish; son, Otis H. Cornish Jr. ; daughter Paula Armstrong; and grandchild Joshua Cornish.
Otis leaves to cherish his memory his children Monique Cornish, Otis E. Cornish(Robin), Christopher Cornish, and Sheila Caldwell; grandchildren; Dr. Alexis Truitt(Jay), Donald White Jr., Jekaira Armstrong, Otis Williams, Latrez Williams, Steven Cornish (Sharmettia), Quindon Lake, RogJenéa Fisher, Michael Jones, Christopher Cornish Jr., Crystal Martin, Brooks Cornish, Johmon Handy, Shanyelle Mason, and Daniel Cornish; a host of beloved and cherished great grandchildren, sisters; Carol Cornish, Sandra Evans and a brother Ronald Nichols; Aunt, Corabelle Jones(Theodore), Special persons; Sabrina Harris, Dion Harris; niece Tussia Cornish, nephew Jeffrey Cornish; and a host of extended family members and countless friends.
