Ouida Gail Brady, aged 93, of Manassa, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025 in Colorado Springs. She was born to the late Cecil Henry Layton and Georgia Mae Thomas on April 6, 1932, in the small and welcoming community of Manassa, Colorado. Ouida's life was characterized by passion, intelligence, and an abundant capacity for love, which touched the lives of all who had the privilege to know her.

Ouida met and married the love of her life, Boyd Arnold Brady, in their hometown of Manassa on April 9, 1949, embarking on a journey that would span half a century until his passing in 2000. Together, they forged a legacy of love and commitment, now carried on by their children: Victoria Ann and spouse Jack Dunn of Ft. Collins, CO; Scott Aaron and spouse Lydia Brady of Alamosa, CO; Chris Arnold and spouse Charlotte Brady of Colorado Springs, CO; and Delane Gail and spouse Darren Elliott of Las Vegas, NV. Ouida also shared her wisdom and affection with her adored son-in-law Michael Jarvis, her treasured 27 grandchildren, over 36 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom will miss her dearly. She is also preceded in death by her daughter Roxann Jarvis, grandson Michael Brady, granddaughter April Dunn, grandson Stephen Dunn and great-grandson Adam Jacobs.

A virtuoso from the tender age of five, Ouida's musical gifts shone brightly as she played piano professionally, gracing many a dance at the hall in Antonito for years. With fervent dedication, she taught the art of piano to hundreds of students, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives through her instruction and the musical compositions she lovingly created.

An active and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ouida served with her husband on two church missions – one in Southern Alberta, Canada, and another in Chicago, Illinois. Her service was but one facet of her deep faith, which inspired her dedication to her family. Guided by her religious convictions, she centered her world around her children and their offspring, nurturing a tightly-knit family that prized unity, education, and love.

Though she never pursued formal education, Ouida's intellect shone through her voracious reading and inherent wisdom. She was a luminous light in her community, her church, and most of all, within the sanctuary of her family. Ouida Gail Brady's life was one of joyous melody, steadfast faith, and immeasurable love – a life profoundly well-lived and cherished by all she embraced in her ninety-three years.

A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Manassa Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6:00-8:00 at Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa. And another viewing right before the service at 1:00 at the Manassa Stake Center primary room. Interment will follow services in the Manassa-Romeo Cemetery.

I will always treasure knowing and loving Ouida! I only knew her for the last chapter of her incredible life, but she was a light and an amazing example to me of living your fullest life to the end. She continued to give of herself in all the ways she could even when she couldn´t do all the things she wanted. I especially loved her laugh! I always left my visits with her feeling lifted and happier. My condolences to the Brady family. She treasured you all beyond measure and I loved hearing her gush about you all!
Sincerely,
Adri Murdock
