Owen Farren Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Logan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc - Malvern on Jan. 7, 2026.
Owen Farren, of Malvern, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 3, 2026. Born on December 18, 1950, in New York, New York, Owen spent much of his youth in Indianapolis, Indiana-a place he always carried with him, especially in his enduring love for Indiana University athletics.

Owen proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Sergeant, serving overseas in Germany. He carried that service with humility and steadiness, shaped by a belief in duty and responsibility.

After his military service, Owen built a life defined by faith, family, and quiet excellence. He earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI) and went on to receive his MBA from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. He also achieved the designation of Certified Public Accountant, reflecting his dedication to lifelong learning.

He began his professional career at Arthur Andersen, where he developed a strong foundation in accounting and leadership. Owen later transitioned into management and executive roles, including leadership at SIMCO, and he ultimately served as President and CEO of SL Industries and TRCI. His expertise in business and finance was matched by a genuine desire to help others-especially his family. He enjoyed teaching, often creating practical "how-to" guides to help his children better understand investing and financial decision-making.

A devoted Catholic throughout his life, Owen found deep meaning in his faith and in the community of Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Malvern, where he was active and engaged. His faith showed up not only in worship, but in generosity-supporting church organizations and contributing to international church missions. Owen was also proud of his Irish heritage; with both of his parents born in Ireland, he carried a deep appreciation for family roots, tradition, and identity.

Above all else, Owen put family first. Despite demanding work and the stress that often comes with leadership roles, he made a point of being present-showing up at his children's sporting events, encouraging their interests, and staying closely involved in their lives into adulthood. He always made time for phone calls and visits with his children and grandchildren. To his grandchildren, he was simply "Grandpa," and that role brought him great joy.

Owen also enjoyed running, reading, following markets and investing, and cheering for his favorite teams-especially IU sports as well as Philadelphia and Indianapolis professional teams.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Bridget Farren, and his sister, Mary. He is survived by his two sons, Neil Farren (wife Amari; children Landon and Amelia) and Evan Farren (wife Christine; children William and Thomas); his brother, Neil Farren; and his sister, Bridget Farren.

Visitation will be held at Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 104 Channing Ave, Malvern, PA 19355, on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., followed immediately by the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery of West Conshohocken. Arrangements are being handled by Logan Funeral Homes.

In Owen's memory, donations may be made to The Salvation Army Harrisburg Adult Rehabilitation Center (Harrisburg ARC). For online gifts, please include in the notes that the donation should be designated to the Harrisburg ARC. Flowers may be sent directly to the church where the service will be held.

I was absolutely numb when I heard the news of Owen's passing. As a family, we've been friends with Owen and his family since his Simco days in the late 1980s. We've seen each other's families grow up and scatter around the world, but still managed to keep in touch over the years. To Neil and Evan and your families, I am so, so sorry for your loss and all of us are praying for you and hoping you stay strong during this very difficult time.

I will miss Owen. Whenever I had an extra ticket to a Philly sporting event and needs a sidekick, Owen would always say yes. I have many great memories with Owen at Citizens Bank Park. He was a kind soul and will be missed. My condolences to his family.
