Owen Hendrickson, 74 Lake Park, MN, died peacefully Saturday Sept. 27, 2025, at his brother’s home under the care of Coobie, Mel and HIA Hospice. Owen Helmer “Canardly” Hendrickson was born to Kermit and Charlotte (Anderson) Hendrickson on Sept. 16, 1951, in Detroit Lakes MN. He grew up on the family farm and was a farmer all his life, currently farming with his brother Coobie. Owen worked some part-time jobs doing field worked for neighbors and worked some summers for his brother Ron for Hendrickson Excavating, where his brother gave him the nickname “Canardly.”
He attended school in Lake Park. He was baptized and confirmed at Lake Park Lutheran Church. In his teen years he was a member of the Forget – Me - Not 4-H Club, where he entered his prize pig, Ona, in the Becker County Fair. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening and cutting wood. One of the things he most enjoyed was visiting with family, friends and neighbors over a good pot of coffee and chocolate chip cookies.
Surviving Owen are his three brothers, Ronald (Mary), Lake Park, Darwin (Cindy), Frazee, MN, and Kevin (Mel Thomas), Lake Park; two sisters, Julie (Randy Boyer) Hendrickson, Audubon, MN, and Darla (Kenneth) Maves, Frazee, MN; 8 nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and nephews. His nephew, Justin, gave him another nickname, Conan, over the years referring to his stature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Charlotte Hendrickson, sister, Ilo Hendrickson, and brother, Duane “Lars” Hendrickson.
He will be deeply missed by all.
The family will host a Celebration of Life at the American Legion in Lake Park, MN on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M.
