Owen Bernard Horten III, 47, of Hebron, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Tidal Health – Peninsula Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Owen was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Though he departed too soon, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
Owen was born in Baltimore, MD on June 2, 1976. He was the son of Owen Horten Jr. of Edgewater, MD and Bonnie Blake and her husband, Keith Blake, of Millsboro, DE.
At the age of 11, Owen moved with his family to Salisbury, MD and then went on to graduate from Bennett High School, class of 93'. After graduation he followed his passion for cooking and attended College of Culinary Arts of ECPI University in VA. After returning home, he spent his career as a professional cook and kitchen manager for several local restaurants.
Owen was an avid sports enthusiast and devoted Washington Redskins fan. In his spare time, he loved fishing, playing cornhole, cooking, and spending time with his family. Those who knew Owen would fondly recall his laid-back personality, infectious laugh, strong work ethic and him being the heart of any gathering.
Besides his parents, he leaves behind his two children who he loved dearly, daughter, Raven Horten (27) of Salisbury, MD and Son, Kaleb Horten (22) of Delmar, DE. He is also survived by his siblings, Kimberly Horten and her fiancé, Michael Michelsen of Salisbury, MD, Carrie Phillips and her husband, Brooks of Snow Hill, MD; his nephews; Nathan Harper, Caden and Blake Phillips and Jacob Michelsen; paternal grandparents; Owen Horten Sr. and Irene Horten as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and beloved dog, Schummer.
