Owen Austin Miller, Jr., 96, of Southlake, TX, passed from this life to be with his beloved wife, Jeanette, in heaven on June 30, 2024. He was born at home on February 11, 1928, in Rock Island, Texas to Owen A. & Harriett Miller, Christians.
Owen was a devoted Christian. He and Jeanette were active in the several churches they attended, where he was usually an officer. He graduated from Columbus High School and then attended the University of Texas, graduating with a Petroleum Engineering degree in 1950. He and Jeanette met on a blind date in Austin and married in 1950. They had moved several times before settling in Bridgeport, TX for 16 years where he was a little league coach, city councilman and active Lions Club member and President. They then moved to Mineral Wells where they lived for 31 years, making many life-long friends within the church and community. Next, it was off to Sun City in Georgetown, TX for many years and ending up in Southlake, Texas and Independent Living. He and Jeanette loved to RV and saw most of the USA and Canada in their motorhome. Many friends and memories were made during this special time.
Owen is survived by three sons, all being Petroleum Engineers: Dennis Neal and his wife Cheryl of Magnolia, TX; Steve and his wife Marilyn of Edmond, OK; and Howard and his wife Tiffany of Flower Mound, TX. His sons blessed him with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Delores Leifeste, along with numerous nieces, nephews, their families and many dear friends at Watermere in Southlake.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, his parents, Owen and Harriet Miller, his sister JoAnn Barron and husband Irvin, Jeanette’s brother Leon and wife Sylvia, and brother-in-law Kenneth Leifeste.
