P.J. Hooks, at the age of 88, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in his home, while surrounded by loved ones. Born in Crosby, Texas, to Paskel and Fay Hooks, Mr. Hooks remained a lifelong member of the Crosby community and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Hooks was recognized as a man who held deep affection for his family, his faith, and his community. He consistently demonstrated a willingness to assist those in need, dedicating decades to volunteer service with Churches United and Caring in Crosby. His commitment included making weekly trips to the Houston Food Bank to support the local food pantry. His dedication to service extended to participating in mission trips both domestically and overseas.

His passion for travel was also evident in the many memorable journeys he undertook with his beloved wife. They particularly cherished trips taken with their church and their friends.

Professionally, Mr. Hooks served for many years as an environmental supervisor of operations and maintenance at Shell Oil Company at the Deer Park Complex. This was a role he treasured and in which he found great pride. In his spare time, he frequently engaged in working on cars or undertaking projects around his home. He was also often found enjoying coffee with neighbors or seated, listening to a history program.

Mr. Hooks was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Helen Brown Hooks, his son Russell Hooks, his parents, and his brother. He is survived by his daughter, Laura Hobbs, and his son, Brian Hooks, in addition to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and countless loving family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Churches United and Caring in Crosby.
